Using Vectors • We can use vectors to solve problems graphically (no Physics equations), if we know how to draw them. • A vector is drawn as an arrow pointing in the direction of the vector. The higher the magnitude, the longer the arrow.
Drawing Vectors • Example: Two race cars are both traveling to the right. Car A has velocity 10 m/s, and Car B has velocity 20 m/s. • The arrows are in the direction of the cars, and their length corresponds to the speed. A (10 m/s) B (20 m/s)

Directional Notation • Directional Notation measures angles from the East/West axis. The length is determined by whatever scale is useful (1 cm = 5 m/s…) N W E S
