Precarious Work: a priority issue for EFFAT • Priority issue emerged from the EFFAT • Congress, Berlin 2009 • All EFFAT sectors mobilized around precarious employment issues • EU project on precarious work on track – intermediate results presented by sector at • HRCT GA – April Budapest, HU • Agriculture GA – April Dubrovnik, CR • Food, Drink & Tobacco GA – May, Alvor PT • EFFAT systematically advocating for social policy and protection of precarious workers e.g. Future of SMA communication, EU Globalization Fund etc.
EFFAT Charter against Precarious Work • call on EFFAT member organizations to… • use collective bargaining in all sectors and enterprises as an instrument to improve both wages and working and employment conditions for precarious employees, as well as to ensure equal treatment; • enhance cross-border cooperation in collective bargaining so as to prevent or combat social dumping; • negotiate common European social and wage standards with employers; • regularly exchange experiences and good practices in relation to equality of treatment for precarious employees and for socially responsible restructuring measures, including outsourcing;
EFFAT Roadmap on Precarious Work • – the 12 point programme – • Point 3 - Compendium of examples of good practices - Joint collective bargaining demands and aims relating to precarious work and the prevention of social dumping; • Point 5 - Fostering collective bargaining cooperation among EFFAT member organisations
