  1. Selfishness Selfishness so often is the basis of money problems, which are a very serious and real factor affecting the stability of family life. Selfishness is at the root of adultery, the breaking of solemn and sacred covenants to satisfy lust. Selfishness is the antithesis of love. It is a cankering expression of greed. It destroys self-discipline. It obliterates loyalty. It tears up sacred covenants. It afflicts both men and women. Selfishness is the great destroyer of happy family life. Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley from Stand a Little Taller; quote for March 6 Selfishness is the raw material out of which Satan makes nearly all of his temptations to mankind. If we place sin in the sunlight, it will cast the shadow of selfishness. Elder William R. Bradford BYU Devotional, June 3, 2003 Selfishness suffocates spiritual senses. Elder Robert D. Hales BYU Devotional, Nov 15, 2005 …the hardest work you and I will ever do is to put off our selfishness. It is heavy lifting! Elder Neal A. Maxwell May 1998 IT 327 - Schweber Chap 22
