To work with Mayor Mallory on the creation of policies and initiatives that will help attract more Young Professionals (YP) to Cincinnati and help retain and energize the active YP community that currently exists. YPKC Vision
Arts and Entertainment Committee Responsible for presenting and increasing the communities’ understanding of the wide rage of high quality performing and visual arts in the Cincinnati area.
Art and Entertainment Projects • Monthly Arts & Entertainment Event Calendar • World Choir Games Friendship Concert at Below Zero in partnership with the Young Professional Choral Collective • Collaborate with YPKC committees: Cincy Pass, Underground Subway event? • Look for other opportunities like the WCG/YPCC event to promote the YPKC A&E mission
Quality of Life Committee Responsible for improving the quality of life for young families in the Cincinnati area and promoting all of the ways Cincinnati is creating positive change towards this goal.
Quality of Life Projects • YP Local History Tours • – experience first-hand the emerging story of Cincinnati’s urban renaissance • Local History • Small Business • Urban Living • Networking • Cincy Pass • - showcase Cincinnati’s diverse neighborhood business districts • Discounts • Awareness • Resource • Networking
Health and Environment Committee Responsible for examining health and environmental issues in the Cincinnati area as well as investigating cost effective solutions aimed at making the region healthier and more environmentally friendly.
Health and Environment Projects • Project 1: Support OTR Homegrown • Mission: support local food production at urban agriculture farms, plots, and gardens • Support seasonal Block Parties at OTR Homegrown farm on Pleasant Street between Green and Liberty • Organize farm-to-farm bike rides
Health and Environment Projects • Project 2: Support Let’s Move Cincinnati! • Mission: support physical activities and obesity prevention events for children in Cincinnati • support campaign kickoff event on August 25 at Smale Riverfront Park • organize and/or support other physical fitness activities and events
Health and Environment Projects • Project 3: Bar and Restaurant Recycling • Mission: improve recycling rates at establishments frequented by YPs • project originated several years ago by YPKC H&E committee • currently 67 establishments listed • survey current establishments about ease of program, savings, etc. • approach new establishments to enroll • promote establishments currently recycling
Health and Environment Projects • Project 4: Prepare Affair composting • Mission: improve composting efforts in support of local gardens and urban agriculture plots • More than 3,000 volunteers to help elderly homeowners prepare their homes for winter • One of the largest 1-day events in the tri-state • connect PWC and Groundwork Cincinnati Millcreek to divert yard • waste for composting • rather than into • landfills
Livable Communities Committee Responsible for integrating services and community redevelopment efforts to jumpstart improvements to the quality of life for residents and businesses.
Livable Communities Projects • Streetcar Saturdays • Kickoff Event-July 21st at Gateway Quarter • Participants: MiCA 12/v, Lackman, Bakersfield, Charmz Boutique, Switch Lighting, Joseph Williams Home • 70 “Attendees” on Facebook • Handed out nearly 200 Transit Passes • 75 followers on Twitter (@Streetcar_Sat) • Retweeted to over 10,000 people • 5 more events over next 5 months • Washington Park, August 18th
Public Safety Committee Responsible for developing initiatives to strengthen public safety in the Cincinnati region.
Public Safety Projects • Health Fair (Avondale, Hirsch Rec Center) • Saturday August 11 from 10-2 • Currently sourcing organizations to meet the needs of Avondale community • YPKC booth • Reduce Blight, Reduce Crime - Future Blooms • Will be toward the end of October • All YPKC encouraged to participate – • Date, location, and project are currently being discussed • Avondale/Cincinnati Youth
Strategic Growth Committee Responsible for positively impacting economic prosperity in the region through incubation, growth, retention, and attraction.
