Sea star facts There are 2,000 living species of starfish that occur in all the world's oceans, including the Atlantic, Pacific, Indian as well as in the Arctic and the Southern Ocean. You often see sea stars in tied pools or in coral reefs out in the deep ocean lying flat on rocks. The sea stars that are greenish mostly camouflage with algae and the sea stars that are brownish colored camouflages with the rocks. The bright colored sea stars camouflage with the bright colored coral, sea slugs, and sea anemones.  Sea stars eat stuff such as clams, oysters, some snails ,or any otheranimal too slow to evade the attack.
