Yale’s Senior Survey Response Rates • Office of Career Strategy • Class of 2014: 95.1% • Class of 2013: 83.4% • Office of Institutional Research • Class of 2010: 68% • Class of 2008: 73% • Classes of 1990–2006: 76–82% • Classes of 1960–1989: 70–80%
Success of Yale’s response rate • 2013 & 2014: • Survey respondents were sent a “class list” of contact and placement information for their graduating class • Access to the class list was an incentive to complete the 2014 survey
Uses of Social Media • Because of high response rate, social media is not relied on for initial data • LinkedIn is used to verify that the student got or took the job, if listed as “in progress” on survey • The Office of Career Strategy finds facebook more effective than LinkedIn or Twitter for reaching current students
