Preliminary task • This task we had to do a match on action task to test our ability of continuity editing. This was the first time I used the camera I believe that this went well as apart from some jerky camera movements the editing was well done and we stuck the 180 degree rule
Research into thrillers • This involved getting a better understanding of thriller openings, discussing conventions and how they are used in the openings. • During this we watched the opening to some thrillers including Se7en and Identity • I belive this help me very much as is gave me a better understanding of what a thriller definitively is
Planning the Idea • When planning the idea we considered the conventions of a thriller and decided that we should have it revolve around a crime, and it took of from there. • I felt that in the group I was able to state my idea and most of them were used such as the long shot being used as the character getting shot. • We took in many ideas that we considered possible and trialled some ideas and after decided what would take to long to edit and film we narrowed down final ideas.
Research • I researched into places to advertise, companies that would produce and distribute our film. We also looked into poster designs for our own poster. • We then researched into locations, we looked at 3 around Cambridge. And chose a car park near man on the moon due to the trapping feel the car park gave. • Me and baron also did some Foley sound research looking at possible sounds we could use to dub over film out side if the quality wasn’t great.
Filming and editing • On the day of filming we had to over come some problems but we can probably learn from them in future, and changing the script to fit the amount of actors we had was one of the problems we had to overcome. • During editing I was show how to create some certain credits to add onto a thriller and that are very similar to credits used in some thrillers
