Celebrating 40 years of excellence in Rowland Heights and surrounding communities • 3,000 students each year • Programs include ESL, Citizenship, ASE-GED, Parent Ed, Older Adult, Fee-based • ESL classes offered at main site and 10 off-site locations • 30-station computer lab and five classrooms with Smart Boards with room amplification system • Increased number of fee-based courses in last six years

  3. This project responds to one of the key issues addressed in the last WASC Self Study Report:“Creation of teacher’s webpage as a new method of communication.”

Project GoalTo help three teachers createacebook pagesfor their classes Expectations • Improve communication among teachers-students-community • Increase the use of technology in classes • Monitor learners’ progress and results • Recruitment and advertisement of classes offered at RACE • Increase student enrollment • Increase the quality of education according to the needs and demands of the community

PROCESS • Project introduction and updates over six staff development meetings • Exploration of personal Facebook prior to meeting with mentees • Created accounts, profiles, reviewed privacy issues • Switched from Facebook group to Facebook page • Posted events, embedded web-links, photos, help build audience UPDATED RESULTS • RACE links with mentees on Facebook Rowland Adult & Community Education • Mentees sharing Facebook at staff meetings • Six more teachers have created Facebook pages • Enhancing online communication

CONCLUSIONS • Teachers can become efficient with Facebook Pages by updating their technology skills in using: and other features of Facebook • Many Facebook applications depend on teachers’ creativity WHAT’S NEXT • Create a RACE FACEBOOK Committee to extend additional support to instructors • Continue encouraging teachers to create Facebook pages • PleaseLikeUs
