The Class Lecture- at the end of which they have a syllabus for the year that lists all of the homework assignments. They are also listed on my website. Homework-is a daily experience. Even test day they are to read the next chapter. Homework is in a given format to mimic the way answers are given on the AP exam. These kids are smart enough to do things in their heads, which is OK if you show the work after. The graders give partial credit for equations and work.
This is College Freshman Chemistry If they pass the AP exam with a 3,4 or 5 they will get college credit For 2 classes. Passing the exam is the focus of this class.
3 = ½ year credit in 2 courses, the lab and the lecture, so 4 credit hours. • 4 or 5 = full year credit or 8 hours of credit • Last year all students took the exam and 79% passed and of those more than half received 4’s and 5’s.
1’s and 2’s are generally related to work ethic and self image. It involves doing all of the problems. It is especially important that they come to the Saturday reviews.
Labs • there are 21 required labs many of which were done in CP chemistry. Need to keep a lab notebook. • work is done in groups but the write ups are individual.

Saturday Reviews • Starting in April there will be 5 Saturday reviews from 8-11 AM on Saturdays. • Old AP exams will be reviewed. • Not required but highly recommended
The Final • This will be on the sixth Saturday, just before the National AP exam. • Accomplishes several purposes. • Gives them the experience of taking a 3 hour test, thus reducing some anxiety. • It shows them exactly what they specifically need to study to increase their score on the exam.
The Saturday before the National Exam • Dinner at my house from 5 to 6. The kids bring the food and I cook. Will ask for help. • 6 to 8 we review. This seems to be very helpful.
The National Exam Monday May 7th at 7:30 AM
