  2. Prejudice v. Stereotype v. Discrimination • Attitudetoward members of a group based on their membership in that group (negative or positive) • Stereotypes involve generalizations about the "typical" or "usual "characteristics of members of different groups. • Actual positive or negative actions toward the objects of prejudice.

  3. In-Group v. Out-group • In-group- the majority, people who feel they are more entitled and better than those they are prejudiced against. Responsible for discriminating against those that don't fit their standards. • In-group bias- biased against those who are not in the in-group • Out-group- People in the minority, that are different, abnormal, and seen as less normal than those in the in-group.Victims of social-isms and discrimination

  4. Scapegoat Theory Scapegoat theory is a social psychological term which can be related with prejudice. The Scapegoat Theory states that people who are prejudice towards a certain group express their anger through this process. Essentially, people who are prejudice, use the group they dislike as their target for all of their anger, sort of like venting.

  5. Categorization and Prejudice Categorization and prejudice are inked in many ways in the psychology world; categorization is an efficient, useful way to recognize people, both for day-to-day convenience and in life and death situations when quick judgments need to be made about how to act. When we think of prejudice, we usually categorize it as is a negative thing; mostly because those who are prejudice have a bad attitude for specific soical group.

  6. Just-world Phenomenom An individual believes that when a good thing happens to them it is because they've been doing good things. The individual also believes that when a bad thing happens it is caused for bad things that they have done. Everything that happens is deserved.

  7. Superordinate Goals and Cooperation Superordinate goals- When two groups of people who don't get along work together for a common cause. Cooperation- When two or more people or things work together for a common goal
