BARBi • Complete and working implementation of IFD • 999 activities/processes, 40901 names, 6600 definitions, 1939 properties, 8757 objects/subjects, ca 1300 relations, etc.. • Based on EXPRESS (EDM, EPM Tech.) • Will provide a free reference library to the Norwegian Building Industry • Anyone can access and use it • Import functions from LexiCon • (Netherlands's IFD implementation)

BARBi TODO • Add product definitions and relations (the IFD data) • Windows in progress • Timber related products in progress • Establish stable interface for the industry to use • In progress • Simple interface already established and in use • Establish neutral organization to run and maintain the database • In progress

  6. BARBi and China • Letter of Intention signed between Chinese authorities and Norway • June 2004 • Provide a Chinese IFD platform • Support in establishing IFD data

  7. NBI’s Knowledge Base • Over 800 design sheets • Best practice • Research • Etc. • Over 50 years of experience • Highly regarded in the industry • Example: • How to properly lay a bathroom floor

Opportunity • The Economist: • “E-commerce takes off” • In 1999 ”everybody” thought total online sale in 2002 would be 100 billion dollars • Then the .com bubble burst • In 2004 estimates show that total online sale will reach 120 billion dollars! • NBI want to sell its knowledge through services online • Not possible without IFD
