Main Literary Device • Symbolism: • ‘“Unless I catch you wearing a red flannel shirt … I’ll leave you on the spot”’ (Jewison 24). • “Norman’s shoulder, which was clad in a red plaid flannel shirt” (Jewison 31). • Shows confidence, freedom and independence. • “He slept soundly for the first time in months” (Jewison 31). • His self conflict is resolved.
