The Swap Meet • On the 3x5 index card write your name • Think about something important to know about the Revolutionary War • Write 2 to 3 sentences about the Revolutionary War, and why is this information is important to know • Stand up, find a partner, swap your cards • Paraphrase and inquire about the other person’s information on the card • At the signal take the card to another partner and paraphrase what is on the card and inquire • At the signal swap cards and move to another partner • Continue until the end signal sounds • Return to seats and report on what you heard

PHOTO STUDY GUIDE • Now you are going to be looking at a painting • Look at the painting, notice the details, really read past the picture.
NOTE THE DETAILS • What do you see? • What does the image tell you about this event, person, and or period? • What feelings or attitudes does the painting evoke? • Identify a few other images from this period in United States History. • What questions do you have?
FROM THE PAINTING • Chose one individual and imagine you are that person. • What might you be thinking as this was happening? • Describe, in your mind, what you might be thinking, feeling-what emotions might you be experiencing? • Imagine what might have happened before this picture was taken. • What do you see happening throughout the rest of the day? • What happened to you throughout the week.
Assessment Example IT IS MANY YEARS LATER • You are showing these photos to your grandchildren. • What would you tell them about your memories of the day?
Write a one page essay describing what you would say to your grandchildren about these years . • Use the guided essay from the handout book to support student writing.
