First level of competition, Participate in Torch Awards program, State Service Projects, Area President elected, winners advance to State competition

Levels of Competition • State Leadership Conference -- • March 5-8--Houston, Texas--Participate in Torch Awards program, Texas Intern Program, State Officer Team elected, winners advance to Nationals • National Leadership Conference -- • April 30-May 4—Indianapolis, IN--Participate in Torch Awards, National Intern Program, National Leadership Academy, National Officers elected

6. News from the Board • Officer Team initiatives— • Texas BPA Cares Award to encourage participation in Special Recognition Program • Focus on Sponsorships • Special Olympics Walk at SLC

9. News from the Board • Proposed budget adopted • In good standing but did go over budget to be able to provide Open Testing online –good feedback • To off-set costs--SLC registration will increase by $3 to reflect a $70 regular rate and $80 late registration

10. News from the Board • Scholarships will increase total to $12,500--WOW • Creation of the Vickie Thomas scholarship to honor her for her service to Texas BPA • Texas will pilot a Virtual Secondary Chapter—focus on students who are home schooled and charter schools

11. News from the Board • Some areas are growing faster than others • Help in chapter recruitment • To provide more opportunities for all— • At Regionals—Increase the number of state qualifiers in individual non-judged events from 3 to 4. This will bring more to SLC.

12. News from the Board • New Board positions— • Kathy Fisher, Area 3 • Danny Lopez as New Business Rep • Tyler Scott as Student Rep • Diana Weber as Interim State Advisor • New Webmaster—redesign hope to roll out sometime in October

News from the Board • State Leadership Conference—Houston • Hotel info handout—Stay with us! • Value feedback--Instead of bringing a self-addressed stamped envelope for comments at SLC, we will collect all comments and file them by chapter. Chapters can pick up the folders at the conclusion of the Awards Session.
