  2. The Right Tool At The Right Time • Why use a wrench if a hammer is what you need? • Ever see a mechanic do so?

  3. Why are we tempted to leave the best tool in the box? • So many times we try EVERYTHING ELSE rather than go to God in prayer! • Shouldn’t prayer be the first thing we ever do? • What about Christians?

  4. A First Century Approach To Prayer • Acts 1:14 -- They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers. • To what degree did the first century church pray?

  5. Acts 14:23 -- Paul and Barnabas appointed elders for them in each church and, with prayer and fasting, committed them to the Lord, in whom they had put their trust.

  6. Acts 4:24, 29-30 -- When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God. "Sovereign Lord," they said, "you made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and everything in them…. Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” • They prayed for all troubling times.

  7. 1 Timothy 2:8 – I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing. • Commandment #2

Is especially a call for holiness in prayer • What is meant by holding up “holy hands” • Isaiah 1:15 -- When you spread out your hands in prayer,        I will hide my eyes from you;        even if you offer many prayers,        I will not listen.        Your hands are full of blood…. • This is a call for universal prayer at all times

  9. What is in our hands when we pray? • Do we offer up righteousness? Or sin?

  10. 1 Peter 3:12 -- For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil." • Who receives God’s greatest attention? • James 4:8 -- Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

  11. Romans 12:12 -- Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. • FAITHFUL IN PRAYER • Persistence and Devotion to Prayer

  12. Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. • DEVOTE YOURSELVES TO PRAYER • Colossians 4:2

  13. Philippians 4:6 • Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. • IN EVERYTHING PRAY

  14. Prayer is one of our most valuable tools and resources. • It is a beautiful gift from God. • Are we praying continually? • If not – why not? • Prayer is the answer to all of our needs, all of the time!
