Berkeley Lab Environmental Monitoring • Analytical services depending on FY13 budget may have to be reduced slightly for VOCs measurements at the groundwater treatment systems, and monitoring for some radioactive materials in wastewater discharges and ambient air may be eliminated. Berkeley Lab Groundwater Plumes Environment / Health / Safety DIVISION
Berkeley Lab Waste Management • Analytical services will remain steady for sample analyses driven by LBNL’s TSDF permit’s Quality Assurance program. Samples come from support services and research waste streams. Environment / Health / Safety DIVISION
Berkeley Lab Generated Waste TSDFs used include • Energy Solutions • Permafix, Inc. (Florida & Tennessee) • Facilities include several subcontracts as well as one DOE system-wide master subcontract (DOE Ohio). Environment / Health / Safety DIVISION
Berkeley Lab Projected Use Analytical Labs • FY13 $195K • FY14 $195K TSDF • FY12 0 cubic meters [No low-level waste or mixed waste was shipped in FY12 since not much radioactive waste was generated and funding for disposal was limited. ] • FY13 4.44 cubic meters [3.68 m3 routine low-level waste, and 0.76 m3 mixed waste] • FY14 Same as FY13 Environment / Health / Safety DIVISION
