  21. APPLICATION PROCESS • DOSSIER PREPARATION THROUGH OSU PRO • EXTERNAL LETTERS OF REVIEW • THE BIGGEST BOTTLENECK • EXPERTS WHO ARE NOT FRIENDS, MENTORS, OR COLLABORATORS • 5 TO 8 LETTERS • TWO MAY BE FROM CANDIDATE SUGGESTIONS • DO NOT RECOMMEND BUT EVALUATE THE CANDIDATE

APPLICATION PROCESS • DOSSIER IS REVIEWED BY THE PROMOTION AND TENURE COMMITTEE WITH TWO MEMBERS WRITING REVIEWS • THE COMMITTEE DOES NOT VOTE OR RECOMMEND • THE COMMITTEE REVIEW, DOSSIER, AND LETTERS ARE REVIEWED AND VOTED ON BY A MEETING OF ALL ELIGIBLE FACULTY • ADVISORY TO THE DEPARTMENT CHAIR

  23. APPLICATION PROCESS • AFTER FACULTY VOTE, A LETTER DESCRIBING THE DECISION IS SENT TO THE FACULTY CANDIDATE • TEN DAYS ALLOWED TO WRITE A RESPONSE • IF APPROVED AND SUPPORTED BY THE DEPARTMENT CHAIR, GOES FORWARD TO THE COLLEGE COMMITTEE

  24. APPLICATION PROCESS • IF APPROVED BY COLLEGE AND DEAN, GOES FORWARD TO THE OFFICE OF ACADEMIC AFFAIRS AND PROVOST • FINAL APPROVAL REQUIRED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES • PROMOTION ACTIVE AS OF OCTOBER THE YEAR OF BOARD APPROVAL
