  2. Two Truths & One Lie • 1. I am in my 18th year teaching at CMS. • 2. I am a graduate of Crestwood HS. • 3. I am a Power of the Pen Coach.

  3. My Goals for a successful year are to: • 1. Plan engaging lessons for all learners according to the Ohio Academic Content Standards for 7th Grade Language Arts.

  4. 2. Read and write with my students every day. • 3. Strengthen my students’ reading, writing, and critical thinking abilities. • 4. Provide a safe, positive, and encouraging learning environment. • 5. Develop life-long learners.

  5. Keys to Student Success: • 1. Organization: Encourage students to use their planners. • 2. Communication: Empower your child to become more self-reliant by initiating conversations with teachers if they do not understand assignments or have a concern.

  6. 3. High Expectations: Expect quality work and solid effort from students along with respect and manners. • 4. Reflection: Build emotional skills to deal with peer pressure, the desire to conform, and other social issues that can interfere with learning.

  7. 5. Family Connection: Take the opportunity to read and write with your child this school year.
