  2. Step 2: Answer the four focus questions in your field study worksheets front page. The questions will be given to you. Step 3,4,5 -Primary data is gathered in the field and completed at Port Stephens. Refer to field study guide that will be given to you on the day of the fieldtrip. Secondary data Find information on websites, newspaper articles, textbooks etc. THIS IS YOUR RESEARCH that you complete after the fieldtrip. Step 6,7,8- Reflect on your findings and research in the field book and complete a report proposing a response to questions in Step 1 and 2. Include attachments of diagrams and pictures if necessary.

What is fieldwork? • Fieldwork is any investigation or task that is carried out outside the boundaries of the classroom. • It helps you to understand the world both natural and built around us. • Our fieldwork focused on human and physical elements of the environment. • We will visit Port Stephens to observe dune management and coastal management strategies.

  4. Techniques used in our fieldwork • Observation. • Field sketches. • Photography. • Video • Statistical collection and analysis e.g. tally counts. • Thorough preparation in class on the information to be investigated. • Any willingness to take action if appropriate.

  5. Presenting information about your fieldwork • A written report – you will be doing this in class in Week 8. • Three fullyidentified and labelledphotographs • Later from field notes, they can be labelledand placed in your report. • Mind maps – example in this presentation • A map – can downloaded from internet • Field sketches - line drawings on the day.
