Kira’s Journey By Stephanie Clark COMM 270 Final Website Presentation
Purpose • The purpose of this site is to provide individuals with a background of Down Syndrome. • Also, the purpose is to share the story of a girl named Kira’s and her journey as she lives day to day with Down syndrome.
Audience • The audience of this site is open to anyone wishing to learn about Down syndrome and how it effects Kira and her family. • A possible audience could be families who have some special ties to Down syndrome. The form page provides a chance for them to share their stories with the Brandon family. • This is aimed at a providing support to each other.
Website Proposal / Purpose • I choose to do my website on Down syndrome. Since the time I met my boyfriend’s sister, Kira, she has had a huge impact on my life. • I wanted everyone to see just how loving she is and how happy she can make you just by being around her. • I originally planned to call the website “The Little Angel” because that is what her name means in Hawaiian.
Website Proposal / Purpose • In my original plan, I was going to make the website mostly information based about Down syndrome. • The plan changed because I am not a expert on this topic and it would be hard not to plagiarize. • “My goal with the creation of this website it to raise awareness about Down syndrome, increase tolerance and acceptance towards individuals with Down syndrome, and to share a personal experience about how an individual with Down syndrome has changed my life.” (Quote from my original website proposal)
Design • I designed the website to lean more towards the Brandon family, Kira specifically. • I choose to use purple as my main color because purple and pink are Kira’s favorite colors. I did not use much pink because I thought it looked too bright and heavy on the eyes.
Changes I Made Throughout The Process • I made a lot of changes over time. • I changed the name of the site. • I changed my sitemap due to having too many pages, mostly knowledge based regarding Down syndrome. • I also changed my design of the pages because I felt they were too similar to each other.
Challenges I Faced Throughout The Process • Trouble with doing the actual html code and style sheet. Overcame those obstacles thanks to the help on Mrs. B, Nick, and Dan! (You all are awesome!) • Trouble coming up with ideas for the design. I couldn’t visualize it in my head. I overcame that by looking at other websites and again by asking Dan if my ideas looked good.
Thanks A Million! • Again, A HUGE thank you goes out to Mrs. B, Nick, and Dan for putting up with my millions of questions and always helping me and making sure I understand what is actually going on. • And to Mrs. B, and Nick for not kicking me out of their office and getting sick of me for ALWAYS being there! • That’s all I have!
