  3. Preparation • Developed database – IM&T support – established good data set • Stakeholders on board – break down barriers early • Develop project plan and be realistic with timescales • Get advice if unsure – has anyone else tried anything similar? • Be aware of pitfalls and find solutions

  4. The application • Set the scene • Why are you doing it? • Be clear and concise • Map back and reinforce the criteria throughout • Clearly defined objectives, timescale and potential outcomes. • Be aware of the impact beyond your organisation, will it create another problem elsewhere? Can this be addressed? • What are the risks? Client group?

  5. Be clear about finances and if necessary secure additional funding • Be clear about how you will monitor the outcomes • Have an exit strategy – will it be a commissioned service? Embedded into the organisation?
