  4. What does Policy Management do? • Highway analogy • 3 general types of traffics • Traditional NMS categories of PM, AM, SM, CM • People, Hardware,Time frame, and geographic locations

  9. Case Studies & Methods used for acquiring information • Cisco: coloring, traffic s&l, Ding. Comprehensive (voice, Internet) like MS • Sitar: More focus on business traffic, good GUI but still quite generic • FullArmor: Not so much QoS, more system PM. Backs up Windows 2000. Some innovative ideas like planning • Nortel and Lucent: Also QoS-oriented, good for telephony and interface w/ switches • Future Works
