4. 2. Opportunities for Research/ Industrial Research for mutual benefit. UVCE is situated in a strategic place well connected by road to different parts of Bangalore. This has resulted in students opting to pursue PG and PhD courses
Start part-time PG courses in evening hours to attract working professionals
Take up funded R & D project for PhD students
Make Doctoral programmes attractive by sanctioning funds to guides for stationary and special equipment and create conducive atmosphere for doing research
Identify the problems for R&D based on specific Industrial needs.
5. 3. Collaborative Research, Multi-disciplinary Research, Commercializable Research and Patent rights. Non formal collaborative research is being done in UVCE by way of utilization of resources of NAL, ISRO, CMTI, IBM, MINDTREE, etc.
Attempts are being made for formal collaboration by way of MOU to take up R&D work of industry needs
A few faculty members are guiding Ph.D students that involves multidisciplinary research (Robotics, Image processing and Metal working)
6. 4. Vision of UVCE towards Industrial Development. The vision of the institution has been to take the role of a leader and foster leadership in Technical Education, Research and Consultancy. The institution has achieved these goals to a comfortable extent. In order to improve further in this direction, it has been planned to provide the following:
(i) Skilled and Quality man power
(ii) Innovative and economical technological solution to
the specific problems of Industry.
7. 5.Innovative and Creative abilities for research culture UG students from II year onwards are being involved in innovative research areas of various branches of Engineering.
IEEE UVCE chapter has various clubs like Robotic club, Research club, Programmers club which encourages the students to participate in a number of technical activities through out the year.
National level students paper presentation competition (KAGADA) and technical fest (IMPETUS) are regularly conducted. Which has resulted in development of new innovative and creative culture among students.
8. 6. Innovative strategies for starting up of new PG programms Number of New PG programmes instituted during TEQIP-I = 9
Total number of PG programmes =24
Attempts would be made to strengthen the new and existing PG programmes in TEQIP-II
Part time (Evening) PG programmes will be instituted after a survey for requirement for working professionals.
