We’ve talked about how to care for your dog during the hot summer days.Your dogs, just like you, need to be able to get the best kind of treatment and be as comfortable as possible so that they don’t fall sick or suffer something worse. Here are some easy tips to keep in mind when helping your dog protect himself from the sun this summer.
Don’t Shave Off All Their Fur While it might keep the dog cooler to have no fur, the lack of fur can also expose their skin to sun damage.the fur does make them hot, it also keeps them safe from sun diseases. Wash them regularly to keep them cool as opposed to shaving off all their hair.
You might not have known this, but using sunscreen on your dogs is very useful. While you can’t use very strong sunscreen, some vets would recommend using the same kind of sunscreen you’d use for your babies. But keep in mind that sunscreen with zinc oxide is an absolute no-no as it is harmful to dogs. Use Sunscreen!
Dogs love sunbathing. And if given the freedom, they will roll around in the grass for hours. Which is not good either. Even if you’ve put sunscreen on them, you shouldn’t let your dog spend too much time outside. Don’t Let Them Play In The Sun Too Long
If you’re planning on going for a hike or a long walk and the sun is out the whole time you’re doing so, make sure that you put a customised t-shirt or something comfortable that won’t make them hotter and uncomfortable, but will also protect your dog from sunburn. Protective Clothing Is A Good Idea
