  2. Who Are We • One of the largest technical colleges in Georgia • Established July 2010 from the merger of: • Flint River Technical College (FRTC); and • Griffin Technical College (GTC) • Combined student population of over • 6,500 credit students Southern Crescent Technical College

Who Are We • Serve the workforce and community needs of the over 500,000 citizens • Serve eight counties of the South Atlanta region including Butts, Fayette, Henry, Jasper, Lamar, Pike, Spalding, Taylor and Upson counties. • Serve an additional 3,500 students per quarter in Adult Education and Continuing Education programs • Offer nearly 200 associate degree, diploma, and technical certificate programs to provide the trained workforce needed to help stimulate Georgia’s community and economic growth and development.   11. Employment Documents Southern Crescent Technical College is a registered participant in the federal work authorization program commonly known as E-Verify. The College utilizes the program to verify employment eligibility of all individuals hired on or after July 1, 2007. The following are an example of the documents which must be collected: • Government Issued Identification (Drivers Licenses, Passport, etc.) • Social Security Card, Employment Authorization Card, Voters Registration Card, • U.S Military card, Birth Certificate • SCTC also collects the following documents: • Official Transcripts • Copy of Licensure Southern Crescent Technical College

  12. Getting Started… • To log on to www.team.georgia.gov Select Employee Self Service/My Account • Type in User ID and Password, if you already know it. If you don’t know your user ID, contact Human Resources • Use your Social Security (without dashes) # for initial Password. • You will then be prompted to create a new Password • Create new Security Questions (if you have not done so) • Click on “Employee Self Service” located on the left side of the screen Southern Crescent Technical College

Getting Started... • Visit www.team.georgia.gov to: • View and print out your paycheck stub • Review and update your personal information • Review your pay and compensation history • Review and update tax withholding information • Update your direct deposit and other deduction or contribution information NOTE - If you change your direct deposit routing or account number, you will receive a paper check for that month and direct deposited the subsequent months. BENEFITS AND SERVICES • Receive up to twelve (12) paid holidays annually* • Eligible to accrue annual and sick leave at the end of each month • Paid on the last business day of each month via direct deposit • May participate in state health and wellness benefits • May participate in flexible health benefit plans • May enroll in following retirement plans: • Teachers Retirement System (TRS) • Georgia State Employee’s Pension and Savings Plan (GSEPS) * SCTC may move certain holidays to a later date within the calendar year to accommodate the academic calendar ** Must have prior participation in Employee Retirement System Southern Crescent Technical College

BENEFITS AND SERVICESannual leave • Accrue 10 hours per pay period 0-60 months • Accrue 12 hours per pay period 60 1/2 months -120 months • Accrue 14 hours per pay period 120 ½ months and greater • May accrue up to 360 hours of leave • Employees must request to use annual leave and receive prior approval from their immediate supervisor via Tigernet, unless an emergency situation exists. • Faculty members must receive approval from their Deans to use annual leave during scheduled periods of instructions *Must work a minimum of 80 hours Southern Crescent Technical College

BENEFITS AND SERVICESsick and personal leave • Sick Leave* • Accrue 10 hours each pay period • May accrue up to 720 hours • May be required to provide evidence satisfactory to the supervisor to use sick leave • Personal Leave May transfer up to 24 hours of sick leave to personal leave if balance is greater than 120 hours Southern Crescent Technical College

BENEFITS AND SERVICES Military Leave Used by members of the U.S. Armed Forces, any reserve force of reserve component of the U.S. Armed Forces to attend service schools for active duty, active duty training, inactive duty training and examination purposed. Must complete a “Leave Request” form and attach a copy of “Notice to Report to Duty” or written statement by authorized military representative. • Employees ordered to duty without personal consent will be paid for up to 18 work days Employees ordered to duty with personal consent will be paid for up to 18 work days if the period of ordered duty does not exceed 30 calendar days in a federal fiscal year (October 1 – September 30). BENEFITS AND SERVICES Military Leave • Employee ordered to duty with personal consent exceeding 30 calendar days will be placed on leave without pay for the entire period of absence unless the absence is charged to accrued annual and/or personal leave. • Employees ordered to active state service in the National Guard due to an emergency declared by the Governor will be paid for up to 30 work days in a federal fiscal year. • Other absences from work while on military leave will be without pay, unless the employee requests to use accrued annual and/or personal leave. BENEFITS AND SERVICES Family and Medical Leave (FMLA) Provides up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave to eligible employees for the following reasons: • Pregnancy and birth of an employee’s child; • Care of an employee’s newborn child; • Placement of a child with the employee for adoption or foster care, and to care for the child after placement; • Care for the employee’s spouse, child, or parent, who has a serious health condition; or • A serious health condition that makes the employee unable to perform the essential functions of the employee’s position. BENEFITS AND SERVICES Family and Medical Leave (FMLA) Employee Responsibilities • Must provide 30 days advance notice of the need to take FMLA leave when the need is foreseeable. • Must provide notice as soon as practical and generally must comply with normal call-in procedures. Employer Responsibilities • Must inform employees requesting leave whether they are eligible under FMLA. If they are, the notice must specify any additional information required as well as the employee’s rights and responsibilities. • Must provide a reason for the ineligibility.   28. Professional development Advanced Education Salary Adjustment SCTC supports employees who pursue advanced degrees. To qualify for a salary adjustment an employee must: • Have at least one year of service with SCTC • Complete Eligibility Form with supporting documentation • Obtain approval from your Division Vice President • Provide official transcript to Human Resources upon completion Southern Crescent Technical College

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Performance Evaluations • SCTC annually reviews and rates the quality and quantity of work performed by all full time employees. • Discussions of performance goals and improvements are also performed. • Annual performance evaluations are usually held between May and June of each fiscal year between the employee and his/her immediate supervisor. • Faculty members are also periodically evaluated, in part, through student evaluations. • Staff development plans are also required. COLLEGE COMMUNICATIONS • SCTC uses School Cast to send out phone/text/email • to alert staff/faculty and students in emergencies. • Go to www.sctech.edu website • Select Employees & Stakeholders • Select Resources • Go to SchoolCast • Update your contact information using your email username and password. Your email username is the name that is before the @sctech.edu. For example, if your email address is john.user@sctech.edu, then your username would be john.user. • User accounts are created weekly to capture any new employees. • Your account is disabled upon your separation from the College. COLLEGE COMMUNICATIONS • SCTC also uses a Voice Over I.P. system to alert the campus community of an emergency. • The VOIP system utilizes horns and the campus phone system to send out the emergency message, • SO PLEASE DO NOT LOWER THE VOLUME OR MUTE THE PHONES. SAFETY AND SECURITY After the student receives medical attention: • Student Activity Fee provides insurance coverage for medical attention required due to injuries or sudden illness requiring emergency response which occur while student is engaged in College activities. • Refer student to the Business Office as soon as possible to file insurance claim.   43. Campus Conduct Political Activities Federal and State laws place certain restrictions on political activities of employees. An employee who wishes to engage in political activity, other than to express his/her opinion privately and to vote, should review the laws and rules of the state. Fund Raising/Raffles Students and student clubs may sell items at SCTC for the purpose of raising money provided they have submitted a prior request and received approval from the Vice President of Student Affairs or his/her designee. The soliciting of funds by employees and/or the conducting of a raffle is prohibited unless approved by the President. Southern Crescent Technical College

Campus conductharassment Harassment of any kind will NOT be tolerated! • One person’s kidding -- is another person’s harassment. • Faculty, staff and students are expected to conduct themselves in ways that cannot be misinterpreted as harassment. • If you observe or experience harassment: • Put a stop to it, if you can!! • If you need assistance, report it to Human Resources. Campus conductworkplace Violence SCTC is committed to providing all employees, students, volunteers, visitors, vendors and contractors a safe and secure workplace and/or academic setting free of intimidating, threatening, or violent behavior. Any violent act or threatening or disruptive behavior, language, or communication in any form (including phone, fax, or email, text, face book, Instagram or written communication) shall not be tolerated.   46. Campus conductworkplace violence Any one who believes that he/she has been subject to workplace violence should report the matter to Human Resources. CAMPUS CONDUCTBehavioral intervention team • The Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) is dedicated to a proactive, coordinated and planned approach to the identification, prevention, assessment, management, and reduction of interpersonal and behavioral threats to safety and well being of our students, faculty, staff and visitors. • The BIT Team typically meets monthly or as needed. CAMPUS CONDUCT Violence against Women Act • The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) has partnered with EverFi to help students, faculty, and staff members address critical life skills such as alcohol abuse prevention and sexual assault prevention.  • As part of our prevention program for faculty and staff, and in compliance with the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), Southern Crescent Technical College is requiringeach faculty and staff member to complete Haven for Faculty and Staff. • This online education will provide critical education on sexual harassment, connect employees with support resources, discuss factors that contribute to sexual and relationship violence, and educate employees to become leaders in prevention. • This training is required under VAWA, and therefore is mandatory for all employees.  The training is currently available and must be completed within 30 days of this orientation session  Southern Crescent Technical College
