Here are the Steps to Follow to Develop a Skill-Set Based Resume
Step #1: Decide on a Targeted Job or Career This will give your new resume a focus.
Step #1: Itemize Current and Prior Employers Make a list of your employers for the past five years (if applicable). This can include part time jobs.
#2. For Each Employer List: • Job Title: • Employer, City, State: • Dates of Employment: • The main responsibilities and duties of the job.
#3. For Each Employer List: • What would you say was your greatest achievement with this job? • Was it something you learned, designed, or created? • Was it a special project, a team contribution, or anything else?
#4. For Each Employer List: • When thinking back on your achievements, were there any hurdles along the way?
#5. For Each Employer List: • When thinking back on this achievement, how did your company benefit from it?
#6. For Each Employer List: • Have you received any form of special recognition or awards for this job?
#7. For Each Employer List: • What expertise would you say you have gained because of this job?
#8. Itemize Your Continuing Education • List any degrees, training classes, workshops, seminars, conferences, certificates, etc.
