2. Anti-Trust Caution GS1 and the GSMP operate under the GS1 anti-trust caution. Strict compliance with anti-trust laws is and always has been the policy of GS1. The best way to avoid problems is to remember that the purpose of the committee is to enhance the ability of all industry members to compete more efficiently. What Does GSMP Do? • Develops and maintains GS1 Standards • Standards for new applications and technologies • Updates existing standards for changes in technology or business needs • Adapts standards for industry applications • Develops supporting materials • Industry-specific Application Standards • Implementation Guides • Technologies and solutions

How Does GSMP Work? • Works through collaborative working groups, where members of the GS1 community participate, including • GS1 Member Organizations • GS1 Users (retailers, manufacturers, distributors) • Solution providers (GS1 Certified Data Pools, software providers, hardware suppliers) • The objectives of these working groups are to • Identify industry needs • Develop effective solutions to be implemented in trade • Ensure solutions meet user needs

10. What are the Requirements for Participation in GSMP? GSMP Community Level Participation: GS1 Members Companies in good standing sign IP Policy if they desire to participate inGSMP standards development, specifically: • Community Reviews • Community Votes GSMP Working Group Level Participation: GSMP Working Groups Participants sign IP Policy & Opt-In Agreement if they desire to participate in GSMP Working Groups for the purpose of: • Participating in defining standards requirements and guidelines • Participating in the development of the technical solution /standard
