  2. Spiritual Near-Sightedness • Many in the world have had a problem with thinking only of the present and neglecting everything else • Some Christians are the same; near-sighted “seeing only what is near” (2 Pet. 1:9)

How This Condition Comes About • Failure to truly love God and others by putting them before self (Rom. 13:10) • Failure to suppress the flesh (Mt. 26:41) • Failure to consider the many long-term consequences of one’s actions (Gal. 6:8-9) • Failure to focus on the eternal life hereafter (Heb. 9:27; 10:31; 12:1-2)

How This Condition Is Fixed • Apply the seven “Christian graces”… • Virtue (character) will keep me true at all times • Knowledge will guide me by God not man • Self-control will keep me from selfishness • Patience will help me through the crisis moment • Godliness will remind me to fear God • Brotherly kindness will limit my actions to good • Love will not allow me to hurt others
