Can you help us? • We are always looking to engage new employers - can you provide a work experience placement? • Please speak to TEP staff this evening • Talk to your school’s work experience co-ordinator
School Placements range of options available • retail • office • education • caring • maintenance • catering
School Placements How can students find out about school placements? • “job cards” stuck on library windows • on-line database (updated weekly)
School Placements How can students make their choice? • advice from tutors/teachers/family • choose between 3 and 6 placements (enter on-line) • completed by the end of term • no contact with business until placements are confirmed
School Placements How are placements allocated? • priority is given to students who are doing a subject with a particular requirement for work experience or who have an additional educational need • other available placements are allocated by the school, according to what has been requested.
Student’s Own Placements (SOPs) • contact potential employers • check that the placement is not already on the database • students, parents and employers complete the pink SOP form • health and safety check (The Employability Partnership) • confirmation
What happens once placements are allocated? • contact employer • letter of introduction and CV • blue 3 Way Agreement Form • interview
Monitoring • workbook • teacher visit • certificate of distinction
What were the BEST things about Work Experience? • being treated as an adult • seeing a task through to completion • friendly relationships with other employees • found the job challenging • plenty of responsibility • being off school
