COMMISSIONING MEETING – JUNE 2008 - W3 PS/SPD STATUS Last week summary: DAQ path: • Not much done because of ECS maintenance and power cut recovery. • Next window for large cosmics run is next week. • Two FEBs (PRS_3) have been replaced because showing significant BER for SPD VFE. Reason is not understood. Replacement fixed the pb (at least slot1). • The absence of half of the C-side in muon runs was actually HV-related. A non-ambiguous use of the HV project has to be settled. Cosmics analysis: • The 77 k cosmics run (among which about 2/3 were unuseful L0Muon triggers) are currently being analysed (Miriam and Ricci). • Mapping is now OK. • Xcal track extrapolation works. • Time-alignment study is under development. Results are encouraging so far. . PS/SPD COMMISSIONING

  2. COMMISSIONING MEETING – JUNE 2008 - W3 PS/SPD STATUS Last week summary: Noise analysis PRS: • 6016 channels measured. Most are OK (>99%). • Spots the problems: • Some channels have pedestals > 255 (6) => cannot be corrected at 0. • We do see FE/VFE connection problems.(32 among which 6 A-side). • 2 1/2 VFE are off (one in each side). Trigger path: • We had worries about the BCIDs alignment within TRIG_PGA. Demonstrated to work now. • For half-cards: TRIG_PGA needs the 2 ECAL infos (arghh). Fixed by sending the same ECAL board info. This adds 12 cables (already in). • « reasonable » phasers ranges obtained for the ECAL data sampling (6-9 ns). • We retrieved the expected latency value between PRS and ECAL. • PRS data read out in the TVB. COMMISSIONING MEETING – JUNE 2008 - W3 PS/SPD STATUS This week: • Continue the data analysis: • Time alignment. • Noise. • Huge PRS events (There, I guess it is a matter of L0 trigger close to the VFE reset.) • Include PS and SPD in the L0Calo path: • Principles established. • Define ranges of sampling for SPD/PRS data in the TVB. • Check w/ synchronous Rams the whole path (SPD/PRS 2X2 + SPD mult). • The only window for large cosmics run (before GCW) will be next week. This is the week of the calo commissioning meetings. Busy times. PS/SPD COMMISSIONING
