Sense of Purpose • Involvement in religion has an affect on a persons sense of meaning in life. • Studies have shown that adolescents that are involved in a religious group have a better sense of purpose and meaning in their lives. • Chart
Social & Family Patterns • Correlation between high morality and religiosity. • Studies have shown that people who are rewarded for their high morality are more commonly involved in religious groups than not. • People involved in religion more likely are led to make healthier decisions such as being smoke free, alcohol free, and no risky sexual behavior.
Health • Religion can have both positive and negatives affects on people. • Doing good deeds through religion can cause relief of both physical and emotional stressors. • Religion can have the negative affect of people deferring things to God and not taking care of themselves. Most of the affects that religion have on health are good though. As noted before people make healthy choices, also having positive emotions trigger certain chemicals in the body to be released having positive affect on the body.
Conclusion • Religion overall seems to have a positive effect on the lives of those who participate. Sadly the number of Americans who claim to have no religious affiliation is on the rise. • Saying No To Religion
