BACKROUND • Originated by 3rd SFG(A) during Feb 11 CFSOCC-A Commander’s Conference • 3rd iteration of Academic Week • CJSOTF-A Commander is supported commander • USSOCOM-3rd SFG(A) coordination • CJSOTF-A Commander Guidance: -Team Building -Train on topics not organic to traditional PMT -Focus on all lines of effort and operation • Positive feedback from last two Academic Weeks -BFC played a big role

  5. BFC HIGHLIGHTS • MET WITH ALL CFSOCC-A, CJSOTF-A, SOTF, AND VSCC COMMAND AND STAFF ELEMENTS • DE-BRIEFED OEF XVII SOF FROM EVERY RC (200+ INTERVIEWS) • COORDINATED THE SUPPORT OF A LARGE NUMBER OF KEY LEADERS FOR THIS ACADEMIC WEEK • MET WITH MULTIPLE AFGHAN ACTORS

BFC THEMES • VSO Methodology works…if you use it • Governance (formal and informal) and economic development are critical to VSO • PATs are DATs are value added, but not widely understood • Need more negotiating training • SOF logistics and ALP logistics are big concerns going into transition • Building Afghan human capacity should be a key focus for all during transition • Understanding all aspect of human terrain in VSO is essential • Less is better
