  1. Dental Assisting Butler Tech / Colerain Career and Technical School

  2. Butler Tech / Colerain • Gain the skills necessary to enter the dental assisting field. This program covers oral hygiene, preventative dentistry, basic dental and lab equipment, x-ray processes, and basic impression materials. Students also learn CPR, and first aid. • Students can earn their Radiology License and Healthcare Provider CPR certification.

  3. Dental Assistants perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties. They often schedule and confirm appointments, receive patients, keep treatment records, obtain dental records, and order dental supplies and materials.

  4. They also sterilize instruments and equipment, prepare tray setups for dental procedures, and instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care.

  5. Under the dentist's direction, some dental assistants prepare materials for making impressions

  6. Some assistants who are given laboratory duties also make casts of the teeth and mouth from impressions taken by dentists, clean and polish removable appliances, and make temporary crowns.

  7. They hand instruments and materials to the dentist, and keep patients' mouths dry and clear by using suction or other devices.

  8. Instruct patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs.

  9. Expose dental diagnostic x-rays.Earn State of Ohio Radiography license.
