  1. versus xStart SIRIUS Modular System

  2. xStart: switch gear for Motor control- and motor protection • Marketing appearance • 03.2004: Professional article IEE • 04.2004: HMI • Professional article electro automation • Cutler-Hammer has launched the entire offering as their new US IEC product family to replace Freedom Series • Highlights from Moeller • Link module LS-contactor (Screw connection technology) • Link module for reversing and YD-Combinations (Screw connection technology) • Electron. DC operation (from 10 HP) • identic frame size AC/DC • Integrated coupling function • Low power consumption Contactors

  4. Coil connection Auxiliary contact xStart: contactors DILM Contactors • SIRIUS • Frame size • 4 frame sizes up to 125 HP • 5 frame sizes up to 150 HP • 3 widths up to 125 HP • 4 widths up to 150 HP • AC- and DC-contactor with same dimensions • AC-contactors: lower depth than DILM • DC-contactors: approximately depth as DILM • Exception: 25 HP and 50 HP Sirius larger dimensions (Frame size step) • Auxiliary contacts • 1 auxiliary contact integrated up to 25 HP • 1 auxiliary contact integrated up to 7.5 HP

  5. xStart: Power contactor DILM Contactors • 4 connection-coil, wiring from top or bottom possible • Connection technology • Coil connection in front • (wiring across contactor) • Up to 10 HP also in spring loaded technology available • (Main contacts and Control and auxiliary contacts) • Up to 7.5 HP main, auxiliary and coil in spring loaded terminal technology. Up to 400HP coil and auxiliary in spring loaded technology • Spring loaded technology

  6. El. DC-actuation xStart: Power contactor DILM Contactors • SIRIUS • Gears • AC-surge suppressor in front plug on up to 150 HP • Attention: Enlargement of the overall depth • S00: in front, S0 – S12: beneath coil connection(inside device dimensions) • DC-wide range coil up to 10 HP (0,7 – 1,2xUs) standard, without separate interface coupling relays necessary • Standard: 0,8 – 1,1xUs, Connecting contactor: 0,7 – 1,25xUs • SPS activation • Low power consumption for DC-contactors, DC-contactors up to 25 HP directly drives SPS (instead of high pickup power consumption) • S00: directly drive S0: coupling relays S2/S3: interface module attachable to Coil connection S6 – S12: El. drive directly SPS • Pick up power con- • sumption • 30 – 50 HP: 24 W • 60 – 75 HP: 90 W • 30 – 40 HP: 13,3 W • 50 – 75 HP: 15 W • Surge suppressor attachable as accessories or customer specifical device • Integrated surge suppressor on DC-contactors

  7. xStart: Contactors/accessories Contactors DILM7-65 Contactor relays DILA Contactors 1 1 1 5 2 2 5 4 3 3 4 Additional surge suppressor at front-> increases the depth! 1. Basic device 2. Surge suppressor3. Auxiliary block 2-pole4. Auxiliary block 4-pole 5. Overload relay

  8. xStart: Circuit breaker Circuit breaker PKZM 0 PKZM 4 The setting range from 0,1 up to 65 A is covered with 2 circuit breaker • SIRIUS • PKZM 0 (0-32A) • Was extended up to 32 A • Short circuit breaking capacity was increased • up to 12A: 150 kA/ 400V • up to 32A: 50 kA/ 400V • 45mm width from 25A up to 12A 100KA/400V (higher values not tested) • PKZM 4 (10-65A) • Short-circuit breaking capacity: 50 kA/ 400V • 55mm width up to 50AS3 63A short circuit proof 100kA/400V (70mm width)

  9. NZM1 • 160 A, 50 kA/400V, width 90mm • 100A in 70mm width • (circuit breaker/contactor) from 0,11A up to 100A same accessories for circuit breakers S3 with 100kA/400V (70mm width) • NZM2 • 200 A, 100 kA/400V, width 105mm xStart: Circuit breaker Moeller covers over 65 A with range NZM, mouldet case circuit breaker for motor protection Circuit breaker

  10. For small machinery and applications, wich are actuated by pushing or hitting (emergency stop). Same accessories as PKZ M0 • Comparable functionality like S00 (Rocker actuation) xStart: Circuit breaker PKZ M01: Pushbutton actuated circuit-breaker up to 16 A Circuit breaker

  11. The existing thermal overload relays (Z-line) were modified for the new system. • The number of the variants were reduced. • The ZB12 (up to 12 A) contains auxiliary contact and coil repeat terminals. • The ZB32 (up to 32 A) contains coil repeat terminals. • The devices can be used for direct mounting. • These product characteristics are no advantage compared to Sirius. • Moeller offers no complete range of electronic overload relays for direct mounting xStart: Overload relays ZB-line 0-65 A Overload relais ZB12 0.1--12A ZB65 6--65A ZB32 0.1--32A

  12. xStart: Branch Feeders Branch Feeders • Tool less combination of standard devices (only screw connection up to 10 HP) to a branch feeder • plug in technology for PKZM 0 and contactor DIL M (up to 10 HP) • el. and mech. connection: connection via main contacts • Contacting of the main contacts • Contacting of the auxiliary contactor and main contacts of the switch gears

  13. Branch feeder can be mounting directly on a DIM rail • No difference to SIRIUS • Viewable isolating distance for pulled contactor • Reversing starter with standard components: Wiring through connector • In the future also planned for Star-Delta-Combinations • No solution plugging technology for reversing/YD • el. and mech. connection:Connection via main contacts xStart: Branch Feeders Branch Feeders • Advantages of xStart are only valid • up to 10 HP and • Only for devices with screw technology

  14. xStart vs. SIRIUS: Resume • xStart: Connecting modules: CB-contactor, reversing and YD-combinationsOnly up to 10 HP and screw technology for conventional wiring • xStart:Same dimensions AC/DC-operated contactorsSirius AC-operated contactors in most cases less depth • Low power consumption • but higher pick up power consumption • Circuit breakerSirius offers uniform accessories up to 100A LS S3 up to 100A short circuit proof 100kA/400V (70mm width) • OverloadrelaysSirius offers an complete direct mountable • range of electronical overload relays • No xStart-Softstarter Result
