Student Associates Scheme (SAS) For Schools Support for secondary school Maths, Physics and Chemistry What does SAS entail? Undergraduates/Postgraduates undertaking a 3 week placement in June/July 2011 in a school or college working alongside experienced teachers and assisting in classroom teaching. Schools can apply for up to 10 students on one placement (placements outside June/July can be organised by arrangement) Benefits of SAS • Raising the levels of attainment and aspirations of young people in schools • Contributing to the recruitment of committed students to initial teacher training • Pupils can benefit from the knowledge of university students who champion their subject • Students will be a positive role model for pupils and an ambassador for their HE institution • A bursary for the school of up to £225 per student • Students are CRB checked before placement • Students are given a general induction to the scheme, to the education system and to working in schools prior to placement For more information or to apply contact Sarah Cooper: sarah.cooper@exscitec.com 01730 235683 Links : www.tda.gov.uk / www.imperial.ac.uk/outreach / www.exscitec.com Imperial College Outreach works in partnership with Exscitec to deliver the Student Associates Scheme
