1. A World Unknown Hostile Encounter Just Doing My Job By: Rowan Haddock

2. My eyes open slowly to see the ceiling of my room as I snuggled tightly inside my sheets, I hear my alarm going off and I am happy and excited to go to school and get together with my friends. I reach down to get out of bed, but there is no floor, I then try rolling off and that doesn’t work either. My heart starts pounding and the scariest thoughts start going through my head: “Am I paralyzed?” and “How will I get to school?” My eyes open again, but for real this time. I am shocked to see not my ceiling, but a lush green forest in front of me. I try to grab around me, but there is nothing there.I realize I am not home.

3. The trees and the ground are upside down. I look to my feet only to find that I am hanging by a vine upside down. I yell and scream in panic at the top of my lungs for someone to get me down, but after ten minutes no one comes. I look to the ground and see a wallet laying there with a Swiss army knife in it. I was too short and weak to get it. I hear a loud rustling in the woods; good thoughts come to my mind: “My parents are coming to save me!” or “Maybe it’s a rescue team?” I am overwhelmed with joy, only to be disappointed at what I saw.

4. There was a figure a size of a man wearing only a skin hugging suit that emphasized and maybe enhanced muscle, he had futuristic bow on his back and was looking directly at me. He pulls the bow down and pulls it back while aiming at me. He lets it go and the arrow flies through the air and hits my leg with a forceful and painful impact; I scream and hold my leg in agony as my assaulter runs away. Tears from my eyes run off of my face and drip and hit the ground. My only way to get out of this situation is to pull the arrow out of my leg, I pull it out with my hand, but it hurts so much. I man up and pull it out with agonising pain; I didn’t realize how sharp it was until I got a close up look at it. My mind tells to throw it up and the vine, I threw it and then I fell down on to my head. It hurt so bad, my head had a cut on it from hitting the rock. I tore off a bit of my shirt and wrapped it around my head tightly to stop the bleeding. I see the wallet on the ground, I run over to it and grab and look in it to see who belongs to. I read a Cup Cake Club membership card that has picture of a boy whose name is George Vanwalklehowsen, I put it into my pocket only to find a paper with the same name on it and I then realize that that kid is me.

5. I reach for the Swiss army knife that I have kept in there and start walking away from this place to go find some clues about where I am and where my home is. I follow the way the man was heading to, maybe I could find some information about him. It took me 2 hours of following footsteps and broken branches to stumble upon a round metal ball that had a touch pad lock, but it seems to be broken. I pry it open and walk in extremely cautiously since the man came this way. The lights turned on and I saw a hologram screen. I stood in front of it and touched the screen. A door slid open with a loud “thunk!” I step in and the door closes behind me, it was pitch black. I felt a stinging pain through my shoulders, I fell onto my knees and 2 more were impaled in my chest and then I was thrown out of chamber into the outside.

6. I look at my hands; they were covered in a thick layer of oozing mud. I tried not to think about the excruciating pain in my chest, I reach for the spot that hurt the most. Once my hand had put pressure on it, it felt a lot better. I then hear a loud voice in my ear that said “Nano suit Initiated.”

7. I started to panic and quickly reached away, but it said the same thing again “Nano suit Initiated.” I started to run; faster than I had ever run in my life and maybe the fastest anybody has ever ran. I hear the voice again “Nano run Initiated.” I trip and fall into the thick mud again, I laid there for about a minute and then said out loud “Where am I?” The voice answered “You are on Vex 876, Home of Operation Nano.” I ask another question “What year is it?” The voice answers “2987.” I ask again “Who are you?” The voice dose not responds. I ask again, but louder “Who are you?!” The voice responds, but not with the answer “Tarklah attack threat.” I am befumbleded; I don’t know what to say, then it repeats itself “Tarklah attack imminent.” Messages appear in the corner of my eye that read out “Nano Amour” and “Nano Bow” and that is when I realized that I was part of “Operation Nano”. It all made sense now, the suit, the voice, and the man. I heard the voice again “Tarklah attack engaged.” Suddenly a large animal hit and knocked me over on to the ground.

8. . I looked at my hands and saw the same material the man was wearing, but I didn’t have time to worry about that. I grabbed a stick and it this creature dead center forehead. It screamed a bloodcurdling screech, my head was bonkers. I couldn’t focus on squat, the creature then hit me with 2 pointy objects that broke my skin on my right hip. As I was falling over I saw a word on the list (in the left corner) that read “Nano Bow”. I said it quietly while the creature lined up for another hit into my side; I heard the voice again “Nano Bow Initiated.” It unfolded in my hands, I pulled it back as far as I could and then let it go, it hit the creature in the chest with a thud.

9. I tell IYA who I was really and asked if she could tell me how I get back where I belong. She says “That they have been expecting you.” I say “Who was expecting?!” shocked and agitated at the same time. She replies calmly “The reason why you had such great days before you were gone was because those would be your only days on the planet after that.” I’m yelling at her at this point “Tell me how I get out of here IYA?!” She replies with the same answer. I start to think on how they might get people from place to place if this is the case. I must’ve thought of the dumbest things until I got it, I asked IYA “IYA, tell me about teleporters?” She says “There is one in the immediate vicinity.” I tell her “Take me there.” She sets up a virtual waypoint; I start to do “Nano Run” to the area. It took about 5 minutes until I got there; I walk into another large sphere.

10. IYA says “DAAT, activate teleport frequency Vex 876.” Who I think is DAAT replies in a much deeper non feminine voice “All teleport frequency are online, continue as planned.” I say to DAAT “Teleport frequency EARTH?” DAAT replies “Prepare for teleportation initiation in 3…2…1…Initiated!” It felt like my molecules were scrambled eggs and then we got out. No one talked to me while I was walking out. When my eyes adjusted I double checked the frequency, everything was correct, but that is why I checked because what I was seeing wasn’t my home.

11. Just Doing My Job “Great I just got away from that Tarklah beast.” I say calmly and with relief . My arm was messed up from when the Tarklah hit me, but I didn’t have to worry about that since the suit would heal me. My AI contacts me with a mission update “Neutralize all non Nano Sentient beings in the immediate vicinity.” My tracker picks up on an unusually large being, but who am I to argue what I’m hunting. I yell “Nano Run”. I run to where the signal is strongest. I walk out of the forest and see a child hanging upside down, I didn’t want to do it, but I did, I fired my bow, it hit him the leg and then I left.

12. Hostile Encounter My herd were all worried about the new flying metal contraptions that have inhabited our land. WE thought that if we stayed out of there way they would stay out of are way. Sadly our intentions were denied. They flying things sent down drones to do their bidding… there bidding was us. They came down from the sky and brought us back up, we stood our ground. Every herd on the big land came together… united we were, too powerful for any other race that we knew. We out numbered them, rushing the flying contraptions. The flying contraptions fell from the sky killing our ultra herd. That was the end of the Tarklah beast herds.
