Major Issues Discussed • The role of Counseling Psychologists in Organizations • Understanding that our one role can impact the larger organization in several capacities • Eight steps to successful steps to change • What do we want to change? • Defining areas that we have control over to change • Focused on two areas: • Broaden career decision making to life satisfaction • Create constructive environmental conditions for improving disadvantages lives • Challenges of creating changes • Consequences of facilitating change as a graduate student or new psychologist

Goals/Outcomes for Future • Take action to create change to reach overarching goals • Define goals for change • Determine FIRST action step • Commit publicly to take ONE action in the next week • Member Focal areas: • Doctoral program changes: collaboration with different but related departments and assistantship areas, include perspectives of MA students, and enhancing relationships with advisers • Including Social Change in mission statement • Reducing competitiveness in classroom environments • Creating theory manuscript guideline • Understanding technology for blogging

Next Steps & Opportunities for Involvement • Creating guidelines focusing on: • Collaborative “Buy-In” to create new roles for Counseling Psychologists • Social Change, Doctoral Program Changes, and Classroom changes • Non-traditional career paths for Counseling Psychologists • How Counseling Psychologist’s can expand their abilities in a consulting capacity • Continuing discussions at APA
