  1. Membranes and Molecular Movement

  2. Animal cell Plant Cell

  3. Lipid Molecule Water -loving Fat-loving

  4. Types of Membranes Impermeable= Impossible to pass Permeable= Permission to pass Semi-permeable=Some can pass.

  5. Membrane Proteins

  6. Membrane Large Molecules Membrane Proteins

  7. Molecular movement Osmosis is the movement of WATER from high to low concentration.

  8. Diffusionis movement of solid molecules (solutes) from high to low concentration.

  9. Flies = representing water molecules Small Bird= Representing sugar molecules LARGE Cell membrane (CAGE)

  10. Types of Concentrations • Isotonic -Iso means (same). The cell is in a normal state. Same amount of water and solutes in and out of the cell. • Hypotonic - The cell swells because more water goes in the cell. Less solutes outside of the cell, high concentration of solutes in the cell, so water moves in. • Hypertonic- The cell shrinks because water leaves the cell. High concentration of solids on the outside of the cell, so the cell loses water and shrinks.
