Planetary Expert, Harry Coumnas Has Invented an ‘Artificial Gravity’ Generating Machine
Planetary scientist, Harry Coumnas has invented an artificial gravity generating machine that may help alleviate weightlessness in space. Astronauts routinely experience linear acceleration due to force of rocket engine, which adversely affect their health. Through his invention, Harry wants to make space exploration easier for them.
Harry Coumnas says “Artificial gravity is a sustained normal force provided by a rigid structure in a uniform circular motion. On the other hand, the real gravitational force of Earth pulls everything at its center, your skin and skeleton, everything you are standing on or holding. And in turn everything is held up by buoyant force, which all works to keep everything from zipping down to the center.”
Certain space missions have attempted to produce artificial gravity. They were able to generate small amount of gravity by firing their side thrusters to rotate slowly. The resultant force was too less for the astronauts, but certain objects were seen moving towards the floor.
Harry Coumnas also explains that a spacecraft under constant acceleration in a straight line would give the impression of gravity in the opposite direction. But certain chemical reaction rockets can temporarily provide enough acceleration to overcome Earth’s gravity and provide linear acceleration to imitate Earth’s gravitational force.
But such acceleration is temporary and a lot of rocket fuel is required to create it. Harry’s graviy generating machine is a solution for this problem
