Special Opportunities • Mountain Treks • - Backpacking expedition for 14-20 year olds. • Unique 5-day backcountry experience exclusive to PTC family program • Hiking itineraries are customized according to the skills of the individuals • Every night is spent at a staffed backcountry camp • - Participants engage in the same activities as traditional treks • NAYLE (National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience) • A co-ed, outdoor-based training in leadership and teamwork for 14-20 year olds. • One week program at Rocky Mountain Scout Camp, the foothills of the Tooth of Time • Motivates participants to help others succeed through servant leadership • Encourages ethical decision-making based on the Scout Oath & Scout Law, using positive reinforcement, and practicing servant leadership throughout life. Wednesday is Family Day: Explore! • Depending upon your specific course, Wednesday might have a session in the morning. • Available activities include (but are certainly not limited to): • Hiking: • Some of Philmont’s most popular trails are available to PTC participants…Lover’s Leap, • T-Rex, Urraca Loop, Nature Trail. (The Tooth of Time is reserved for certain older-aged groups • of the PTC family program, depending upon the amount of participants in the Trailblazer program.) • Philmont’s Museums • Villa Philmonte, Philmont Museum & Ernest Thompson Seton Memorial Library, Kit • Carson “Rayado” Museum • The Village of Cimarron • Rich Western History • The Town of Taos • Known for art galleries and restaurants.
