  1. Aladdin Wishes vs. Monkey’s Paw Wishes Logan S., Joe C., Lauren W. Have you ever wondered what you would do with 3 wishes? Most people would spend it on wealth, power, or happiness. In two stories, Aladdin and Monkey’s Paw, one character is offered three wishes. The Monkey’s Paw is centered on a couple and their son making wishes on a monkeys paw. In Aladdin a crook stumbles upon a genie that grants him three wishes. Throughout the stories both characters understand the consequences of wishing. Lauren Walls

Aladdin/Jafar 2nd wish Aladdin Jafar • To save his own life • The genie finds Al drowning and saves him. • In the movie, the genie decided that that’s what Aladdin would of wanted. • To be the greatest sorcerer in the world • In the movie Aladdin Jafar wanted to be more powerful than the sultan. • He wanted to marry princess Jasmine. Monkey Paw 2nd wish • To wish his son alive again • In the short story, The Monkey’s Paw, Mrs. White wanted to see Herbert again and they wished him alive again • In the text it states that Herbert walked up to the door and so Mr. White thought he would be all dead looking, so he wished him dead. Aladdin 3rd wish Aladdin Jafar • He wished for Genie’s freedom • In the movie, Aladdin wishes for Genies freedom because the Genie wants to be free • To be the most powerful Genie in the world • In the movie, Aladdin out smarts Jafar by requesting him to become a genie; this has him be placed in a lamp.
