3. Order of Operations: What does it mean? Break it down into parts: Order Operations of Who goes first in line? -

4. Soooooooooo……. • The order of operations is the order in which EACH operation is performed in an expression or equation! 5 x 13 – 10 Who goes first? Do I multiply or subtract first? Why does it matter?

5. Why??? • There is a certain order in which multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction must be performed when they are grouped together. • If you do not use the proper order, your answer will be incorrect!

9. YOU MUST ALWAYS SOLVE FROM LEFT TO RIGHT!(EVERY TIME!)

10. To do this, get on the train and go in order from left to right following PeMDAS! • Let’s try a few examples: • Which operation would come first, second, etc… • 13 + 25 x 4 • 72 ÷ 3 – 10 • 20 x (10 – 7)
