  4. PCSC has built up strong links with Axum Secondary School as part of the ‘Dreams and Teams’ project and now more recently the ‘connecting classrooms’ project. Both of these aim to improve shared experiences between UK and African schools so African children can benefit from our knowledge and experience and we can understand more about the challenges that countries such as Ethiopia face. The average class size is 50-70 students. They range in ages from 12-21. You can only progress once you have passed the year.

  5. This is the school’s caretaker. He lives in a small metal shack near the entrance to the school. He is armed with an AK47 assault rifle. This is to prevent people breaking into the school grounds. He has shot and killed two people who have broken into the school.

  6. The farm - this is to provide milk which the school can sell and dung which can be used for fuel. What does PCSC use a local farm for?

  7. The school’s ICT room - Although the school has a couple of PC’s they rarely have the electricity to power them.
