New SPS liners: the 2009 spring collection M.Taborelli for the SPSU team 24/3/2009
Liners in SPS: what and where XSD1 signal SEMCLOUD1 (1..48) StSt liner XSD2 signal SEMCLOUD2 (49..96) a-C coating CNe13 liner (inserted 11/8 in SPS, vented 2 weeks before insertion, measured already twice and vented from beginning December to now) SDneg signal SEMCLOUD1 (49..96) a-C stripe of 4 cm width EcEx signal SEMCLOUD2 (1..48) (cable of previous quad) a-C/Zr CNe/Zr#10 EcEx SDneg XSD2 XSD1
Liner a-C/Zr CNe/Zr#10 C Zr 1 μm 200 nm -No major differences between the two ends of the liner (parameters were chosen for that). -Unfortunately the roughness is less than in the previous trials made on small pieces in tubes instead of large liners. It is probably due to the higher temperature reached in the liner (more diffusivity=less roughness)
CNe/Zr#10 CNe9/Zr#3 CNe14
Liner a-C/Zr: SEY SEY max=0.96 The differences reflect the observed roughness (and may be more than that….the CNe9 was in itself one of the best coatings we had)
Previous experiment (2008) in C-magnet with StSt reference sample 50 mm 40 mm
2 months air, wrapped in alu foil +5 months in HV Still to be inserted in C-magnet: SPS-SEY movable sample a-C CNe14, aging 2 months in air wrapped in aluminium foil + 5 months in the “high vacuum” system (10-3 mbar) kept in static vacuum
