  3. FAMOUS last WORDS {16} Matthew 27:45-46 From noon until three in the afternoon darkness came over all the land. About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, ‘Eli, Eli, lemasabachthani?’ (which means ‘My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?’).

  4. FAMOUS last WORDS {16} “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Why? The most common easy answers for hard times 1 Corinthians 13:9&12 “For we know in part and we prophesy in part... For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.” • It’s your fault • It’s Satan’s fault • It’s God’s will • It’s very easy to have faith when the sun is shining • How deep is your faith?

Why?”(Psalm 22:1) • What is God’s part of the story? Number One The Father forsook Jesus

So holy is God that the very heavens are not clean in his sight. So holy is God that even the seraphim veil their faces before him. So holy is God that when Abraham stood before him, he cried, "I am but dust and ashes" So holy is God that when Job came into his presence he said, "Wherefore I abhor myself" So holy is God that when Isaiah had a vision of his glory he exclaimed, "Woe is me! for I am undone , because I’m a man of unclean lips and I live among a people of unclean lips. FAMOUS last WORDS {16} “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” We only see part of the story • What is God’s part of the story? 1 Peter 2:24 (speaking of Jesus) ‘He himself bore our sins’ in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; ‘by his wounds you have been healed.’ Number One The Father forsook Jesus Number Two The Son was forsaken so that we could be forgiven John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
