  3. Purpose Purpose of ISO 10007:2017 standard • Enhance common understanding about configuration management • Promote the use of configuration management • Assist organizations in applying configuration management to improve their performance ISO/TC 176/TG 01

Introduction ISO 10007:2017 describes: • responsibilities and authorities for configuration management process (e.g., planning, identification, change control, status accounting and audit) • management activity that applies technical and administrative direction over the life cycle of a product and service, its configuration identification and status, and related product and service configuration information ISO/TC 176/TG 01

Introduction ISO 10007:2017 describes - Continued: • identification and traceability, the status of achievement of its physical and functional requirements and access to accurate information in all phases of the life cycle Configuration management can help organization to meet the product and service identification and traceability requirements (as ISO 9001:2015 clause 8.5.2) • Published March 2017 ISO/TC 176/TG 01

Main Changes Main changes of the ISO 10007:2017 revision • Updated language to be consistent with ISO 9000:2015 and ISO 9001:2015 • revised products and services to make the standard easier to apply to the service industry • revised procedures, documents and records to documented information ISO/TC 176/TG 01

Main Changes Main changes of the ISO 10007:2017 revision are - continued: the configuration management process should also consider the requirements from customers and relevant interested parties, as well as statutory and regulatory requirements the configuration management plan should describe the required resources, the needed responsibilities and authorities consideration of the life-cycle of the configuration (when selecting configuration items and determining the configuration information) the environment for protecting the integrity of configuration information should also consider the availability and use as needed ISO/TC 176/TG 01
