Quickly scan these chapters, looking for five things in the Jaredite history that are very “Nephite” in nature. -pride cycle -secret combinations -rejected and murdered prophets -boats -promised land -prophet/leader leading them to Promised land -lonely final prophet -complete annihilation of a civilization Why is it noteworthy to realize that the Jaredites were “Nephite” even before the Nephites were? What value is there in looking at these two civilizations side-by-side?
Ether 12:3-23, 27-31—Moroni’s Discourse on Faith • Do a faith fall; why do they call it a faith fall in light of the definitions for faith that we find in Alma 32:21 and Ether 12:6 • Look for the word ‘faith’—it’s in there 34 times. • Moroni here makes a list of great Nephite and Jaredite accomplishments that were done “by faith”. Mark the word ‘faith’ each time you see it and underline what was accomplished by faith. • Is there a New Testament chapter that is structured similarly that lists biblical accomplishments that were done by faith? (Hebrews 11) • Who is the audience for Ether 12? Why does Moroni want us to understand that all of these great B of M events were accomplished “by faith”? • Write your own Ether 12 or Hebrews 11.
