Memory Verse: 1 Thessalonians 5:23 “23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” BIBLE PASSAGE:John 17:13-23 INTRODUCTION: It is the express will of God that every believer be sanctified – 1 Thessalonians 4:3. We cannot really become vessels unto honour, fit for the Master’s use until we have been wholly sanctified - 2 Timothy 2:21. THE SANCTIFIED LIFE
THE SANCTIFIED LIFE Outlines: THE NEED FOR A SANCTIFIED LIFE STEPS TO AND THE CONSEQUENCES OF SANCTIFICATION
Outline 1: • THE NEED FOR A SANCTIFIED LIFE • The Christian as a regimental follower of Jesus Christ should desire to be like Jesus Christ his Master. Apostle Paul said – 1 Corinthians 11:1 ’Be ye follower of me, even as I also am of Christ.’ Hence, the need for a sanctified life as Jesus did – John 17:19. Sanctification helps the believer to live a holy life without which no man shall see God – Hebrews 12:14. It is so crucial that it involves God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit – 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24, Ephesians 5:26, 2 Thessalonians 2:13. THE SANCTIFIED LIFE
Outline 2: • STEPS TO AND THE CONSEQUENCES OF SANCTIFICATION • The believer can be sanctified through the following means: • By the Word – John 17:17. • By the blood of Jesus – Hebrews 13:12. • Through a heart surgery – Ezekiel 36:26. • Voluntarily – 2 Corinthians 7:1. THE SANCTIFIED LIFE
Outline 2: • STEPS TO AND THE CONSEQUENCES OF SANCTIFICATION • The consequences of sanctification are many. These include: • The ease of living a holy life – Ephesians 5:26-27. • Becoming a vessel unto honour for the Master’s use – 2 Timothy 2:21. • Bearing fruit with ease – Romans 6:22, Galatians 5:22-23. • Attainment of perfection of Christ – Hebrews 10:14, John 15:2. • A guarantee of an inheritance in Christ – Acts 26:18. THE SANCTIFIED LIFE
THE SANCTIFIED LIFE • CONCLUSION • Are you sanctified? Do you wish to be? Are you willing to part with sin and uncleanliness? Then the trinity is willing to sanctify you wholly.
