3. Introductions – New Members - Introduce yourself, spouse, number of children and respective grade(s). - How you found out about H.O.P.E? - Anything interesting about yourself you want to share? - Expectations

4. December 2011 Activities Re-cap “ Christmas Party @ Heritage Park” - approximately 90 persons attended. - DJ John on the “wheels of steel” - Santa Clause made appearance and big hit. - Liz Cortez coordinated Christmas Card Activity for our armed forces. - “Adopt a Diamond Bar Family” program was a success – thanks to all who donated. - Thanks to Dean Aguilar for supplying X-Box. - Thank you to all those who help set – up and to all those that help tear down.

5. Magnificent 7 Meeting Notes • DBHS Swimming Pool official ground breaking ceremony. • Principal Real proudly announced that approximately 1,600 students made honor roll out of a total of 3,000 students. • Discussed the various upcoming fundraising events for 2012 and importance of supporting each and every one. • Dean Aguilar presented plans for March 4, 2012 “5k walk/run” fundraiser @ DBHS

6. SAT Practice Exam -Practice exam will be held @ Walnut High School -Saturday, February 11, 2012 from 8:45 – 1:30 pm. -Hosted by “LAPA” parent group. -Administered by Princeton Review. -Free of Charge – nine (9) spots for HOPE students available. -By invite only and need to respond via e-mail to secure spot.

7. DBHS Gourmet Food Trucks -Mag 7 families hosting first of three (3) scheduled events beginning on Saturday, February 11, 2012 -Food Truck Hours are from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm -Entry Fee is $2.00 -Seven Food Trucks will be there including one dessert truck in front parking lot. -Portion of proceeds goes to school so please come out and support.

8. February 15, 2012 Meeting – Guest Speaker -We will have an administrator from the University of Southern California (USC) as a guest speaker at our next meeting. -Topic will be on admissions process to USC as well as outline of what your student needs to be accepted at the university level. -Will discuss resources available to your students to aid in the process. - If time, brief “answer and question” session.

9. Multi-Cultural Carnival – Hosted by HOPE -President’s Weekend – February 17 -19, 2012 -Hours of operation : Fri – 5-11pm Sat – 2-11pm Sun – 2-11 pm -HOPE has own free 10x10 booth for fundraising opportunities. -Suggestions on best option for fundraising ? (ie., food booth, etc…,) -Need volunteers for booth or will pass off to other Mag 7 Families.

10. USC Tour – February 25, 2012 Cindy Martinez – Director of Undergraduate Advisement & Academic Services at USC’s Annenberg School of Communication & Journalism. • Parent member of HOPE Chapter at Chaparral Middle School. - Will be assisted by one of her colleagues. • Tour will begin @ 11am sharp at USC Campus. • Parents and students will drive themselves after meeting in front of high school. • Offering to active DBHS HOPE members first. • RSVP by weekend of February 11, 2012.

11. HOPE “Student” Social Event • Would like to have social outing for DBHS Students. • Suggestions? (ie.. bowling, roller skating, etc..,) • Outing will create cohesiveness amongst students. • Will help create bonds, which will carry on beyond High School.
