This week • Next: • A. Ali seminar on spectroscopy • Tuesday: • 15:00 general session • Wednesday: • 11:30 Other experiments • 15:00 Elba/TDR planning • 17:00 joint Physics/Computing/Detector session • N.B. All parallel sessions are in Aula Seminari. LNF April 2011
Other experiments • Recognise that the landscape of flavour physics is evolving: • LHCb now producing results (see Moriond). • ATLAS/CMS results on rare Bs decays expected soon. • NA62, KLOE 2 and BES III will have completed or made significant progress toward their physics goals. • While we are designing and building SuperB we need to make sure we keep up to date with the state of the art. • If we don't we will miss opportunities. LNF April 2011
Planning for Elba • Aim to have a high level of physics activity to engage experimental and theoretical communities for the production of the TDR (and in the longer term for the physics book). • Conveners should participate in the Elba meeting. • Plan to have experimental and theoretical input with ~9 parallel sessions at Elba. • Already identified a need for sessions on: • Other experiments, TDR, Dark Forces, Interplay, Charm, bsll theory errors. • Speakers from Belle II and LHCb confirmed, hope to have a name from NA62 soon. LNF April 2011
TDR Planning • We are developing an outline for the TDR on the wiki: • http://mailman.fe.infn.it/superbwiki/index.php/SuperB_Physics_TDR • Outline is taking shape (need your input): • Currently trying to develop list of sub-sections and ordering of these. • Discussion on Wednesday pm. • Next steps: provide latex template and identify names to contribute to sections. • Please contribute to this effort and take part in the discussions (or send us and the conveners feedback offline). Aim to update the new physics potential of SuperB using latest theoretical technology, and results that have started to come out from LHC. Ultimate Aim: have a pre-SuperB & post-SuperB view of the interplay between experiments. LNF April 2011
Addition to working group structure • 5S working group has just been created. • This fills a significant gap in our current activity. • Identified an expert with the relevant experience to take the lead in this area. • Alexey Drutskoyu (ITEP) has just joined SuperB and will be convening this group. • Not just Bs physics, there are also spectroscopy related topics, so have to take care not to duplicate efforts of WG5. • People interested in 5S physics should get in touch with Alexey. Physics meetings • Plan to have bi-weekly physics meetings (EVO) for the foreseeable future to support the TDR effort. • Please complete the doodle poll at the following URL if you are a convenor or plan to participate in the physics effort and want to contribute. • http://www.doodle.com/uxne7seawdd4f79b • Proposed meeting time: 8am (West coast) / 4pm (UK) / 5pm (Europe). • Next meeting would be scheduled for 2 weeks from now (week starting 18th April). Announcement will be made on physics mailing list. LNF April 2011
